Clairol nice'n easy root touch up causes hair loss for sure. i used it for several years and was losing my hair in the front where I was using it.

My sister used it one day and told me it happened to her (with one use; she had told me this the previous time she had used my dye but had then forgotten it) which is how I figured it out. The hair in that area will become short and sparse. I see it in this woman's pictures too, especially visible in the 2nd last picture here: http://www.ladyandtheblog.com/2017/06/16/root-touch-ups-easy-salon-treatments-thanks-clairol-root-touch-nice-n-easy-showyourroots/ I got one without ammonia Garnier Olia Oil-Powered Permanent Color but don't know if this is the best one. https://www.futurederm.com/is-garnier-olia-oil-powered-permanent-color-better-than-other-hair-dyes/ I also bought this natural one but after reading instructions for the long drawn-out process gave up.

But I need to research more. I am very pissed off at myself for not figuring this out sooner.

Reason of review: Bad quality.

People who want to cover grey could use organic and pure henna and then an indigo application. You have to keep henna on your hair longer than conventional hair dye, and it can stain surfaces in your bathroom, but this is a natural plant that can actually strengthen your hair. It does not have a caustic smell like hair dye, so why do women still use chemical dyes on their hair when henna has worked well for women for centuries.

I too have been having extreme hair loss! I have fine, thin hair anyway, but the amount I'm losing is not normal.

What can be used instead of this? I'm not ready to go to white/gray!!

Iโ€™ve been using this product in between colorings for the past few months and the hair around the crown of my head is most definitely thinning. AVOID this protect!!!

My hair has fallen out at the front. I used chestnut brown.

My hair Is whispy and elastic and just snaps off . Iโ€™m never using this product again!

Guest

I used L'oreal root touch up and it has caused hair loss!

I had similar experience and found out the hard way. ended with a bald spot right at the front .

Ive been using the gray cover up for months and had no idea this was thinning and breaking my hair. I know a couple of other family members who experienced hair loss as a result of using this product or any other similar color spray or pen

Yes, I experienced this frightening level of hair loss too! I am so glad for the postings because I was getting concern about all the hair I was losing.

I was curious, since my hair loss started when I started using the Nice and Easy color. Thank you everyone because as of today I have stopped using it. I am losing hair far faster than my hair can grow back and the volume of loss is severe! I will never use this again.

I encourage you to email customer service and inform them.

I did that today and posting warnings wherever I can. This product must be recalled!

I am also losing hair at an alarming rate. Have used it for years Will not use it again.

I also had hair loss after using this, in the exact places I applied it. I would never recommend using this product. It grew back in one area, but not in the other, and I think it may have damaged my scalp.

I used the age defy hair color and my hair continued to fall out for a week after coloring.

Guest

Yep!

I've been using it for years, and this past year I've noticed my hair thinning big time.

I'm not only walking around baldish/thinning up front, it's also gray.

I'm too scared to color it again.

My hair was full, dark brown with beautiful curls.

Now it's thin and balding causing me anxiety when I go out.

I feel everyone is staring at my thinning hair. :-(

I am in the same situation as you, nice curly brown hair and now it is thin to the point of embarrassment to go anywhere. I was desperate for answers, doctors said menopause?

I did that fave years ago with no hair loss.

This was not slow, this is every time I am in the shower I am horrified. When I try to let my curls dry naturally, it looks like I have a roller set because it is falling out where I parted my hair for the root application first. They need to recall this product!

"I am very pissed off at myself for not figuring this out sooner."

Agreed - I think I'm actually more upset with myself. Since using this product twice in the last few months, my hair has been falling out in large quantities by the roots - not in patches but sort of evenly all over my head.

My scalp has also been itchy, which has never been an issue in the past. Furthermore, I used this once a couple years ago and experienced the same thing but thought it was a coincidence. However, for some reason I decided to follow my gut- feeling and switched products. Unfortunately, I remembered that incident too late to help this time.

**That said, I don't think it's an inferior product - I just don't believe it's the right product for me.

I'm writing this, not to demonize Clairol but to remind people that not every product of any kind is a good match and if somebody reads this, they may realize this holds true and find a better solution for their particular needs.

As a matter of fact, another Clairol hair coloring product has worked well for me - Previously, I used Age Defy several times as a root touch-up and it worked perfectly with only the "expected" minimal shedding after coloring - and no itching or burning.

I was simply trying to save a little money with the targeted product but will go back to using Age Defy or something else less irritating.

***Full disclosure: There are other reasons I may be experiencing hair loss at this time - Age (53), Anti-depressant use and stress due to several Loved-Ones' health issues. That said, while I do believe there is such thing as coincidence, having this happen three times over an extended period suggests there may be a connection between Root Touch-Up and my particular hair loss.

Just figured it out today also after using this product several times recently my hair partings have thinned and I now have a bald patch at the front! Panicking!

I donโ€™t know what to do and am desperate for my hair to grow back.

I woul.d never recommend this product to anyone. Too much hydrogen peroxide.
