Clairol - Dye did not turn dark
26 comments
I have used clairol root touch up for at least 5 years and never had an issue. I mixed the color and activator today and it didn't look the same as usual.
It almost looked like conditioner and didnt mix well with activator. So i did not use it. I let it sit because after a few minutes it usually turns dark, but it remained cream color. There has to be domething wrong.
Took pictures. Color is Dark ash brown, but never got dark like in tbe past.
Reason of review: Bad quality.

This has happened to me way too many times. Itโs so bad
This is what just happened to me. Has never happened before!!
I had the same thing happen. It was a Creme color. Thanks will not use it
This just happened to me too! I usually use dark brown but Target was out.
So I got 4A Ash Brown. It never turned dark. Now I have to go out to another store and buy dark brown.
Waste of time and money. Iโm not putting that on my hair!!!!!
Same Here, I have taken 3 boxes back for exchange at Target already. Appears to be the Ash Brown or Medium Brown shades.
Iโve had that happen literally now 5 times this past year (2 today with 2 boxes purchased at same store) - never buying again
same thing how frustrating
Same thing,
This is true ! Not a nice rich color like the old formula...
fades quickly... very disappointing
Same. Right now.
Trying a hidden a strip of root: after 15 min its turned light brown. Waste of money.
The same exact thing has happened to me twice now with Clairol Root Touch Up 4A. I used it anyway the first time.
The mix color did not darken and it actually lightened my roots instead of darkening them. I went to dye my roots with the product again this morning and the same thing happened- the cream is not darkening.
I called Clairol and they claim the cream is not supposed to darken because of some kind of new technology. If that is the case the 'new technology' isn't working...
I had the same issue with 4A tonight. So, I cut a swatch of hair and put the blend on half of it.
The good news - it did not turn blond. The bad news - it did not get darker, either, which it should have considering the medium to light brown color I am starting with.
I took a picture with the mixture, the bottle and tube with lot numbers, and my hair swatch unchanged all included to send to Clairol. We'll see if I hear back from them.
Same here, bought 4A and thought it was odd the color came out of the tube light so I waited for it to get darker, but it never happened. Definitely not using, can anyone suggest a different brand?
Same thing happened to me - purchased at Rite Aid. Exact same thick cream color
Same problem. Bought at Cvs.
Color says dark brown ash. It is blinded not normal dark color creme.very disappointed will brands
Today September 22, 2018, I opened a new box of Clairol Root Touch Up 4A. It should be brown.
It has been sitting for over 20 minutes and is still off-white in color. This is the 2nd batch I mixed from this box. The first never turned brown. There seems to be a serious Quality Control problem with this item.
It is made in Mexico but Clairol is responsible for what they sell to consumers in the US. I tried calling the toll free number on the box but they are closed. I called CVS as I purchased the product there. They asked me to bring it in and said that they would do an exchange even though I have no receipt.
I have used this product for over 10 years. I have used many shades of brown and this is a first.
Bad customer service from Coty for those who have called for help. Someone from Coty should be reading these posts.
Same exact thing happened to me today . I'm afraid to use it .
Same thing just happened to me! I didn't use it...
was afraid it would turn my hair blonde (or worse!) Threw it away.
Waste of money. Very frustrating.
Same here! Looks blonde
This just happened TJ me and Iโm furious!! I donโt want to put it on my hair.
